Lied to immigration previously

when I first came into Canada with my then boyfriend now husband I lied to immigration and said we met a long time ago when we were young in the same state, and it was put in writing , but we met online. Will it make a difference if I say we met online in our sponsorship applications

Or I don't know am I making a big deal out of nothing

We met online

I was young, dumb, stupid, etc. And tried coming into the country illegally thinking once I was in I could get my student permit, I already applied and was accepted to a school, I just hadn't started my permit application yet.

The immigration officer asked how we knew each other and we said we met when we were young in another place in America.
It was then asked for me to write down what I said for the immigration officers to keep it on file.

But did they let you in on the basis you were his spouse? I dont see it affecting you if you were just "boyfriend and girlfriend"

First I was denied border entry because I didn't have all my documentation in order and I was told if I came back with my permit I'd be fine.


My issue is I lied about how we met previously and it's in writing on a file.

For my spousal application for him to sponsor me, I was to be as honest as possible and I don't wants dumb lie I told when I was 20 to bite me in my bum.

First I was denied border entry because I didn't have all my documentation in order and I was told if I came back with my permit I'd be fine.

So you met online but at that time you told them you met in person in USA? Had you met in person when you first came to Canada or was that the first time?

I think they only really care if you lie about being together as a couple/not being together and you told them you were boyfriend and girlfriend so if anything its extra evidence of how long youve been together... It may come up in an interview but if you just tell them what youre telling us I cant see them denying you since they deny you if they dont believe the relationship is genuine

We met in person a month previous because he came to see me at my mothers house.

But good this makes me feel a bit better. I just don't want the idea to be "I lied about X what about Y"
