My husband (whom I am in the process of sponsoring) and I met in March 2012, moved in together in another province (Ontario to Nova Scotia) September 2012 and were married late December. We're shooting for an April application date. Our wedding was a small civil ceremony, we had a few guests (mainly friends) and we're planning on taking a short honeymoon later this month. Unfortunately, our families couldn't make it - his family is in Croatia and it was simpler to have a reception/celebration of the marriage in Ottawa with my family. We have pictures of the marriage ceremony/reception/celebration. He's been in the country on a student and subsequent work visa (which he plans to renew) for 5 years. We have a joint bank account and are saving for a mortgage and the down payment on a vehicle.
My question is, would the length of our relationship/marriage effect our application wait time?
As far as processing, yes the VO will take a closer look. Your relationship is less than a year old - that's a short relationship.
After the PR, your spouse will be subject to conditional PR. If you two separate or divorce in the first two years after his landing, he could have his PR revoked.
Another question would be, if we provide sufficient evidence of the relationship (bank statements, lease agreements etc) will our time together still be looked at closely? At this point, we are prepared for the possibility of an interview - which would be fine, but is something that also makes me a little bit nervous. Should I include the vows that were written for the ceremony and possibly written statements from my parents (concerning their inability to attend) and our witnesses/guests?
