Hi everyone,

My partner and I are going to apply for common in-law sponsorship next month. He is currently in Canada with a student permit and a Canadian visa which allows multiple entries. He was invited to his friends wedding in the US in June and was going to use that opportunity to go home to Brazil after to visit some family. I couldn't really find any information on if its possible for him to still travel freely with his visas if his application is being processed. Since we haven't submitted it yet, would it be better to submit it as outland so he can continue to travel if needed?

Thanks :)

i believe for inland applications, he needs to be in the country during the processing ... whereas for outland he can leave the country too. In your case, i think the outland might be better, since he can enter the country anyway and be with you, but it gives him the flexibility of leaving for personal trips to the US,brazil, etc. when needed.

Thanks for the quick response, I will look into using the outland option instead. As far as I can tell, the only disadvantage is he might get called to an interview there?

yup, if he is called for an interview it will be in his home country ... and same for the passport, it will have to be sent to the embassy at the home country for visa issuance.
