Leaving the country and returning during inland sponsorship?

Hi my gilfriend and I are considering getting married in the near future. After we will be applying for inland sponsorship and open work permit. She is from Germany, right now the wait time for PR is around 24 months. The issue is that her father is getting older and has ran into a few health issues. She would like to be able to fly home and help her parents for a few weeks if something comes up. She would fly after her work permit is approved. Is this possible while waiting for approval for an inland sponsorship? Thanks

She can certainly leave. However there is no guarantee she will be allowed back into Canada (likely but not guaranteed). If she is not allowed back in, this will effectively cancel the inland application. If she wants to come and go - she should apply outland.
