Leaving country for while spouse sponsorship in progress

I am a PR in Canada and I have applied for spousal sponsorship and it's in progress. I have been offered a one year contract job in Australia. If I take that job, what will happen to my application.

It will be in trouble, because you (as a PR) must remain in Canada for the duration of the processing. It would be different, if you were a Canadian citizen.
