Hi,
I am a Canadian citizen, and I am looking to seek some advice for my sibling, who's been living with me here in Canada for almost 9 years. I do believe she has grounds that could make her eligible for H&C, but I understand that this is just a shot in the dark and all. She currently has legal status in Canada. Unfortunately, sponsorship does not work for her as she doesn't meet the eligibility requirements. I understand that H&C cases are very complex, and that is why I was wondering if you know any law firms in the GTA area that are experts in the H&C subject. The number of immigration law firms and lawyers is overwhelming, and I've been in contact with licensed lawyers who don't seem very promising. As you know, this type of application is costly and extremely uncertain, so I want to make sure we get the best possible lawyer. Thank you!

Hello,
I suggest that you go to on-line publications like the Toronto Star and Globe & Mail and find National stories where they look for quotes from lawyers considered to be leaders in their field.
And since the Government posts their Manuals on-line:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...humanitarian-compassionate-consideration.html
That's what the decision-makers consult for the policies, and it's a good idea to learn something of what everyone's talking about.
Just a heads up that in-status H&C applications usually take a couple of years before it's opened for a decision.
Good luck

What is her legal status and what has she been doing for 9 years? Why does she not qualify for PR? H&C is always a gamble so all other avenues should be pursued first. How old is she and where are her parents/other siblings? Is she married? Does she have children? If so where are her children located?
