Can anyone shed light over the current landing process post receipt of COPR. Are you required to do your PR formalities at the airport itself? What are you required to carry with yourself?

Yes, for Outland applicants arriving in Canada for the first time your PR formalities are concluded at whatever port of entry (airport) you arrive at.

For Immigration, they will ask for your COPR, ask you to confirm some details listed on it (address, dependents, spelling of your names), sign it, and they will cancel your visa counterfoil and advise you of your responsibilities as far as the residency obligation.

If you plan to bring or import personal items, make sure you have your B4 and B4A forms completed ahead of time, it will greatly reduce the amount of time you spend at Customs.

so when you land at the airport do you receive your PR card right there. or do you get a temporary card and wait for your actually PR card to come in the mail at a later date ??
thanks

Hello

thank you for starting the topic about landing, this is the stage I am now at, my passport has been requested by Pretoria, South Africa! How easy is it to courier a passport with a courier company, or we allowed to have our passport collected by a courier company?

how long is the immigration visa valid for before you need to land and would I reeve a copy of any COPR documents with my passport?

thank you and all the best for your landing

You do not receive either your PR card or a temporary one at the airport. You get one of the copies of your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) back (the one without the photograph attached) and the visa counterfoil is cancelled. You will have to wait about 6-8 weeks (47 business days currently) to receive your PR card.

No you do not receive the PR card when you land, you will receive it by mail at the address that is on the COPR. In the meantime you can use your COPR with your passport to get the SIN card and other things done.

okay thanks!
thats good to know you can still get your SIN and dont have to wait for the card.
do you know if you can get your license with it. or at least an ID card ? (for us it would be a BC ID)

I've been so busy worrying about the application I haven't even considered what to do with my stuff when I go. Where would I find those B4 and B4A forms? Is there any site that discusses issues with bringing personal items or having them shipped?

Yes, thank you for the link. It will be a big help.
