I am already living in Toronto, got my CoPR papers and planning to complete my landing process at Peace Bridge by renting a car. Does anyone think if it would be an issue doing the landing with a rental car?. I have a US Visitor Visa too. Basically I am planning to cross the border(Enter US), do some shopping and come back to Canada.
This is fine.
Make sure to get a clean car though. I remember there was a post here about a month or so ago, where they found some traces of narcotics(?) at the trunk. Apparently it was from the previous renter. Just the same, it was a bit of a hassle. Everything turned out ok at the end.
Remember you are crossing borders (do you watch Border Security?), so you may be subjected to searches. Best to know what you have with you.
Not trying to alarm you, but feel free to search the forum/thread for this case.
Should be fine. I've crossed the border in a rental car twice now and it was never an issue. I was a UK citizen on a temp work visa both times. Just make sure the rental company know you're taking the car to the States and you'll be golden.
+1, there should not be any issues as long as you tell the rental company you are crossing the border. I did the same a month ago for landing and had no issues.
My post might be very relivant: Basically Yes you can, that's how I did it. I even landed with the cars you rent per hour basis and you're not allowed to drive into the states (no cell coverage there, as long as you're in Canadian cell coverage you're fine)
