My husband is flying into toronto to do his landing interview. I will be staying here in the caribbean. We have heard many different requirements.
1. Me as the wife/sponsor does not have to be at the interview ? We were told by the High Commision of Canada re Trinidad and Tobago devision. But yet I searched on here that that sponsor has to be there. What is the right answer. he is flying out this Monday.
2. I was also told he just has to bring his paperwork that was sent to us re Confirmation of Permant Residence and nothing else besides his ID. Is that correct ?
Can anyone else tell me any other things we need, its last minute but any help would be appreciated. Like what is the interview like. does he need anything else. We tried contacting the Canadian office but no one can ever help us.
Your husband is NOT doing a landing interview. He is "landing". Landing interviews are for Inland applicants, your husband is an Outland applicant. Basically, he is going to the port of entry to be confirmed as an arriving permanent resident. He will be asked to confirm some specific items of information on his Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR), including his address in Canada, that he has no other dependents which are not listed on the COPR and that all information is correct as entered on the COPR.
That is all that is involved, you do not need to be present. Look over this list for ideas on what are needed. In your previous posts you said you are not moving just yet, so not all of them are relevant, but you definitely need to do the B4 and B4A for Goods to Follow.
