Looking for feedback for those who may have been in same situation.
Me - only person to be immigrating to Canada.
Husband - Canadian citizen, but US green card holder
Kids - Dual US/Canadian citizenship
Doing my landing tomorrow and not sure what to say to the US border when we return, specifically regarding how it may or may not affect my husband. I am assuming this is not issue, since technically he could sponsor me and never actually move to Canada again? no?
I did try to search out this as I know I've read accounts on the topic but I never have luck with finding what I want in search engines.
"technically he could sponsor me and never actually move to Canada again? no? "
During part of the PR application if you are applying outland and living outland than part of the process is to show that you intend on moving to Canada when the PR application is approved.....
If you have your PR visa in your passport then go to the border and show them that, and tell them that you are looking to land....
Right, we don't actually intend on not moving together. I just meant that from a standpoint of US... if they'd ever believe that
I'm not at all worried about the landing formalities, but we do have to return here, and that's where I am most concerned regarding those who had to return to the US. our home has not yet sold, so we are at this point unable to move officially.
His status here in the US 10 year green card holder and at the moment, he is our breadwinner so him keeping the status is important until we can move.
We decided it was not worth the risk and that we will drive together to the border city and he will stay with the kids there while I do the landing formalities.
