I have recently got my visa to land in Canada and I plan to do my landing on March next year (2012). At the same time, I got engaged about a week ago and I have plans to get married asap.
The question that confuses me now, can I get married and then do the landing? keeping in mind that I have to sponsor my spouse to join me later once I am in Canada. OR does getting married before landing changes everything, and it is better to get married AFTER I do the landing?
If anyone who has any idea, experience on this ,I would be most thankful if he/she can advice me on this issue.
No, you can not get married now and then land on the visa you got when you were single.
This would be considered misrepresentation by immigration and would cause you to never be able to sponsor your spouse for PR and could also cause you to lose your own PR.
You must land first. Then come back, get married. Then go back to Canada (because as a PR, you must reside in Canada in order to sponsor people) and file for sponsorship.

i agree. ive read cases like this and they never turned out good. i had the same dilemna when i got my PR
visa and same thing was advised to me. it would be quite expensive to go back and forth
but it will be totally worth it to do it the right way.
