Hi I landed at the end of May in Canada and am back in the US. I will be joining my husband in August in Canada but still haven't received my PR card. The Canada Post is now on strike and no mail is being delivered. The officer told me when I was landing that I can apply for a one time entry visa if my card doesn't show up soon, through the Los Angeles Embassy. Anyone know where I can do this and how? Is there fees involved? How long does it take to get? Help!
As an American, you don't a visa to enter Canada so there is no need for a Travel Document. If you are concerned have your husband travel with you. But you will be fine with just bringing your Confirmation of Permanent Residence to show to them and explaining that you already landed and wanted to come back to Canada but because of the postal strike, you're still waiting for your card. They will understand. Not to mention many Americans travel the border back home to Canada with just their COPR and are let in just fine. Postal strike or not. No need to be worried. Plus, if the strike ends soon, you still have a good chance of receiving the PR card by August. Good luck!
