Kid's passport expiring Dec2020

Hi all,
My kid passport is expiring in Dec2020. USA consulate in Toronto is not accepting any passport renewal application unless question of Life_and_death. We live nearby Toronto on Work permit. Now I have to submit PR application but don't know what to do as i mailed USA consulate in Apr and again in August but its closed for normal operations in Toronto. Kid's passport can be renewed only in Face 2 face and not my mail etc.

Please suggest what should we do in this case.

You can submit your application with the current passport and attach an LOE to explain your plight with the embassy. I had same issue. At a later date, IRCC will ask for a valid passport

thanks a lot. seeing current Covid i doubt it will open in next 1-2 months also. Can you share when IRCC asked for a valid passport. ITs like 1 month from AOR or 3-4 months?

Were u also stuck for US passport for kid?. If yes, any way to get same while in Canada?

My AOR is May 16. I was asked to submit my kids current passport on Aug 5, so i guess after 3 months. My dependants have their passports expiring by sept 16. I was lucky to get it extended in my embassy in Ottawa on 19 Aug. I have submitted to IRCC since aug 21 and the status since Aug 24 is 'we are reviewing the additional documents' so not to worry, they'll ask for it later and if you are able to get it then, you can upload
