joint or separate bank accounts?

I am a Canadian-citizen sponsor for my U.S. spouse (outland - we currently live in the U.S.). Our goal is to retire in Canada and I am filling out the forms to sponsor my husband for permanent residency in Canada. We have joint bank accounts in the U.S., but our Canadian accounts are only in my name. Should I make our Canadian accounts joint as well, or does it matter since I am the one undertaking to support him when we land? Thank you for your help.
