Hi I wonder if anyone can help

My daughter is moving to Canada to start a new job. My grandfather (now buried there ) and mother lived there coming from Poland as the war started . My mother married my father (a Scot who was in the RAF stationed there ) there during the war, my brother was born there and I lived there as a small child but was born in Scotland. I want to go and live with my daughter do I have any rights through my family connections. Or does she have to sponsor me once she is established there ?

In the absence of any information regarding possible naturalization of either of your parents, you will need to be sponsored. You have no other implied rights.

You basically have 2 options to consider.
First is becoming a PR under sponsorship of your daughter. This however requires 3 years of Canadian income meeting the minimum levels for parent sponsorship. Since your daughter is just beginning her career in Canada, then she won't qualify to sponsor you right away. She must earn the minimum amount in 2013-2015, and then could possibly qualify to sponsor you starting in 2016. The sponsorship process can also take a long time (a couple of years) once started.

If she has a Canadian spouse, and spouse has been working in Canada for a while, then spouse can be added as a co-sponsor and could possibly apply right away.

The second, quicker option is to apply for Supervisa. This is basically a very long visitor visa that is renewed every 2 years. The process to get supervisa takes only a few months and is pretty easy to qualify for. However you would need to buy your own medical insurance during the entire duration you stay in Canada under supervisa, which can get expensive depending on age/health. But its a good way to stay in Canada while waiting on PR sponsorship.

You should also clarify your daughter's status in Canada. We are assuming that she is a PR or citizen. Is that correct? Or is she coming as a temporary worker?
