Hello forum.. im newbie here, i just want to inquire how to apply job in canada and how much it cost for processing? Im working in Saudi Arabia as Instrumentation and Control system engr and im here in philippines for vacation. Any inputs is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Ideally it should not cost you anything if you are being hired by a reputed concern, but if you take the services of job consultants you may end up paying anywhere between a month's salary to two months' salary as their professional charges.

It may be sometime before your efforts will yield results as employers in Canada are required to go through the lenghty process of applying for a LMO from HRSDC which takes anything between 1-2 months & once you have a positive/neutral LMO you would need to apply for work permit from your home country.

The LMO while it protects the Canadians it puts the temporary foriegn worker at a disadvantage as you may end up waiting for anywhere between 3-4 months after being recruited before you land in Canada.

Accessing a placement agency, or executive recruiter (senior positions) should never cost you -- if anyone asks for money - walk away. The agency/recruiter in Canada is paid by the company doing the hiring, never the individual looking for work.

Like in any business there are some 'shady' businesses out there, so never feel trapped into paying. If any firm says for a fee they will introduce you to a number of companies, send out your resume and get you interviews - walk away. These are not professional organizations. Organizations will not meet you this way and it will be money wasted.

There are many professional companies or pay for services that can assist you in updating and critiquing your resume, or coaching you for an interview in Canada and this would be the only thing you may want to consider to pay for - but it's not always necessary as there is limitless samples on the internet.
