So me, a Canadian (potential sponsor), and my wife (principal applicant) are moving from Australia to Canada in June because, well, I'm starting a job.
Our residency and sponsorship app is still being processed. We've submitted the necessary police check and background check forms and, yeah, no movement.
I know there's really nothing I can do to make the case processing centre move any quicker (or is there?) but was wondering what others have done in this particular situation. Did you contact CIC? What did you do at the border, etc., etc.
You cannot do anything to speed up. But you can find out the progress by ordering GCMS notes.
However, since you are a Canadian, you can move to Canada and start working.
Your wife, if she is visa exempt, (assuming she is Australian) can travel to Canada as a visitor. And stay there while waiting for the approval. She cannot work during her stay.
You need to update CIC your new address in Canada.
When you say Canadian, you mean a Canadian citizen....right? If that’s the case you can order the notes (you don’t have to be living in canada. Alternately, someone in Canada could order the notes for you. Or you can try a company like this:
Good ol' pure bred maple syrup filled Canadian here straight outta Nova Scotia. The website is a bit misleading as it asks for residency information (i.e. address) but then you can chose from a different country outside Canada.
Considering the amount of time between now and when we arrive, and how long it takes to process a note, I think I'll take my chances and just call 'em up.

There is no point in calling them. They can't speed up the app and can't even give you a timeline. If the app isn't processed by the time you arrive, your wife will enter as a visitor.
