Hello All,
Just wanted to know the experiences of people who have landed in Nova Scotia (Halifax or around it) as far as job search is concerned (any success and how long did it take) and are there any major IT and Engineering companies (Manufacturing related) around this place?
I am aware of IBM in Bedford
Thank you in advance for the information.
I've lived in Halifax since late 2010
There are some jobs here, however IT jobs here tend to pay less that in larger cities in Canada ( Not a really big issue since cost of living is less here as well).
Also you may not be able to land your ideal job from the get go. You may have to do something else while you search for your ideal job.
If you have the option I would suggest you start searching for a job asap, especially if you already know when your are landing and your status has been resolved. Don't wait until you arrive.
The saying in Nova Scotia is this : "If you are willing to work there will be a job for you." However this does not mean you will find a job in a field you are, which also means you may have to take lower pay for a while.
Halifax is a great place to settle and raise a family. Some of the best weather in Canada, and a lovely small city to live.
Good luck. An adventure
