Job reference letter urgent

hello all,
I cannot ask my company to give me job reference letter.
Can I ask senior employee of my company (whom I know from my college)to give me a reference letter.Although we have never worked in same location or project.But he is working in same company at different location.
Please advise.
I cannot ask my colleagues to give reference letter.
