does anyone know the job prospects for a hotelier in calgary, alberta? i am presently working for a 5-star hotel in a senior management position. i've heard that almost all of the employers in canada look for canadian experience. does this apply to hoteliers as well?

i have to be honest. before your reply, i did not know anything about NOC 0632 or NOC 29. i was just too busy with work. i applied through a consultant/agency. i've done my medicals at the beginning of this month. i was told that the visa stamping should come soon, within 2-3 months. only now am i starting to prepare and do some research on the net.
at this stage, should i still be concerned that my job is no longer listed in the NOC 29 group? please advise. thanks.
Very much so!!! How has your consultant applied for you if that occupation is no longer offered? The only way you could get in would be to have an arranged job. VERY strange to do medicals as they are only valid for 1 year and the process (if you qualify) can take that long....you have to land BEFORE your medicals expire - or take them over again. There is something very strange about this whole situation. I hope you will explain it to us further.

Is it possible that your application arrived at CIO BEFORE 26 June 2010??? If that is the case, then 0632 was in the NOC 38 list in those days. It was dropped after that date. This is the only way I could understand that you've done medicals and hope to have visa so soon.....OK...over to you.

after reading some threads here, i am now leaning more on toronto. i've always felt that as a bigger city, there should be more hotels, hence more job opportunities for me.
