I am trying to apply for the visitor visa extension for my Japanese wife. Her stamp is good until January 31st. We are in the process of finishing up her PR application and will submit it soon. But in the meantime we must extend her visitor visa.

My questions are:
1. If my wife doesn't speak English well enough, do I need to fill in the representative form as well and be her representative?
2. What is best to say for the purpose of her visit? I had put other and wrote that she wants to extend her stay with me and wait for the results for the PR. Is that an acceptable answer?

Thank you in advance for any responses.

You cannot extend a visitor visa. Even if you could that serves no purpose. You need to extend her stay as a visitor (visitor status).

No.

That is acceptable and actually a good reason to want to extend status.

It is too early to apply for an extension. Wait until January.

Sorry, I guess I'm getting the terminology wrong which can be confusing and probably detrimental to properly filling out the correct forms. Yes, I meant the extension of her temporary resident status.

Just wondering, why would it be too early? I'd like to get it done before the holidays just to get that stress off our minds.

Another question, sorry if I'm being pedantic,
Under the details of visit to Canada section on the IMM5708E form, specifically -Name, address and relationship of any person(s) or institution(s) I will visit: We have my name, Husband, and my address listed there.
Did I fill this in correctly?

Thanks for the replies!

It is expected to apply with AT MOST 4 weeks in advance. The earlier the more possibilities of it being refused.

Normally people apply 2-3 weeks before expiry date.
