Dear Forum members,

I would like to thank you for all your support and help through the process. You've been very helpful to me. This forum has been really really helpful.

I received my visa today. I have one question though: my middle name is not written in the visa. I'm not sure if this is normal and ok in the visa. My passport shows my complete name with middle name. I also put in all the forms I submitted to Canada my complete name.

This is how my complete name looks like:

example: John Robert Doe Smith

where: John Robert is the first and second name
Doe is the middle name (mother's maiden surname)
Smith is the last name (father's surname)

However, my visa shows only: Smith as the surname, John Robert as the given names

My COPR shows: Smith as surname, John Robert as given names and "Name Flag" as Doe.

Has anyone experienced not showing all your names in the visa?

Thank you.

Congrats skillpro:

I hope you achieve everything you've dream of in your new life.
Please tell me when does your visa expire? Is it one year of the medicals.

Please share

Skillpro,

Congrat and do share your landing experience.

John,

It is adviseable to get your name changed, although it does not make any difference. If you can wait some more time, then go ahead and email the VO for a change, else leave it like this and go ahead to Canada. Congrats anyways.

Thank you so much for all your wishes. Best of luck to you.

I'm still not sure though if i should raise my concern to the VO.

This is in response to your PM...

Hi,

This is perfectly alright, relax! This is how it's done & everyone (whose names run long) gets it this way. There nothing to worry & u don't need to ask CIC to change it. In fact it won't be changed too.

A. Didn't u place "Smith" in the 'surname column' of the "Update Info Sheet" (which came with PPR)?
B. Even if u haven't, CIC takes the 'last word' in the name as your 'surname'.
C. The "Given Name" field in their system has place only for 2 words.
D. So, if someone has 3 words in his/her First Name, it's clipped to the first two only.
E. Note that "John Robert Doe" would remain as it is in your file, but "Doe" will not be visible, to anyone.
F. Your PR card, SIN card, OHIP card, DL card etc. all will have it this way.
G. But when a Govt Official logs on to the system they'd see the complete name (all 4 words).
H. However, as with cards, any printouts will only show 3 words.

I hope that rests u clarified.
Congrats for the PRV!
