I am applying for PR in BC. My wife of 24 years is a Canadian living in the USA since 1968, she will be my sponsor. We have a place to live in Canada (my mother-in-law is poor of health and cannot live alone, hence the move).
I already received my Police background check. I applied for proof of Citizenship for our three kids (US born to a Canadian). I have a medical appointment this month.
Once I get the proof of citizenship and the medical check done, I will be sending in the paperwork for outbound. We are selling off the bulk of our possession to facilitate our new living arrangement. Sometime around June we will be moving to BC, with two of the three kids.
We have a written invitation to live with my mother-in-law, a written out plan for once we land in Canada. I have photos, letters from family and friends, attesting to us being a real couple. We are just waiting for the above to occur.
I anticipate around this time next year I will have my PR and be able to work in Canada. Long term I will be applying for citizenship.
Yes indeed... with a solid plan/proofs that your wife intends to return and reside in Canada, and being married for 24 years with kids... your application should be a breeze for the VO and not see any problems.
Just make sure you can show you are planning to live there, especially your wife. So letters, place of address, selling of things, and proof of a job for your wife would be really good stuff!
Just a note that the "proof of Citizenship" for your 3 kids is not required as part of your application for PR. As citizens, DON'T list them on the application.

which states (item 7): "Photocopy of citizenship certificate or immigrant or permanent resident visa for any family members who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada."
I really think he needs to list his kids on the application, and provide their proofs of Canadian citizenship...

He needs to list the Dependant kids. If they are Canadians, they don't need to fill application for them nor undergo medical exams, but there is a request for copies of either citizenship or passport.
Can you please send me a private message? I have a question I need to ask you.
