Hi,

I am currently a PhD candidate at one of Canada's universities. Is this considered work experience in Canada (based on NOC: 4012 Post-secondary teaching and research assistants http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2011/profilequicksearch.aspx?val=4&val1=4012) ?

Thanks

Re: Is PhD studying considered working experience

Yes, it is skill level A -

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. So could I declare explicitly in EE profile that I am working as a research assistant (in the working experience section) and also declare that I am currently studying as a PhD student (in Education section) ?

Thanks

CIC does not recognize working experience while studying full-time under CEC.

EDITED

Yes, it would not count under CEC, but the FSW program has had a stream that is specific for PhD students...

Unfortunately, it appears that under EE that the PhD stream has been de facto eliminated...

No longer as it doesn't appear anymore.

Thanks a lot for you all. What if I have already foreign industrial working experience (3+ years), and I am currently full time student at one of Canadian's universities ? I am still eligible to apply under EE ?

You can apply under EE only if you are eligible under the FSW program (considering you don't have canadian work experience to qualify under CEC).
