Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hey guys,

My partner of 4 years is looking to sponsor me and I'm unsure after a bunch of reading if he is ineligible because he has received funding to go back to school. I have read that "wellfare" is social assistance, and OSAP does not count, but he is not on OSAP.

Here is a line from their website : "Laid off? Looking for a new career? Second Career is an Ontario government program that will pay your tuition."

He currently holds a part time job and is in school full time. Is he ineligible? I fear I will have to leave Canada because of this.

I don't think it's Social Assistance. I think it's a program that actually has existed for 40 or 50 years under the Manpower/EI arm of Human Resource Skills Development Canada (or it's various other names). They will pay to retrain a person once in their life, with no expectation to repay. I don't think it's being run by the OW office. OW in Ontario is what your partner wants to avoid like the plague.

Thank you so much! You have made my day, and its my birthday! My lawyer also confirmed the same thing :)
