Is it Safe to leave the country after filing application??

One of my friends is about to apply for Citizenship. Have been quite curious if one can leave immidiately after successfully filing the application? Or one should inform the immigration that he/she is leaving the country after applying for citizenship?

They do say somewhere that you should inform them if you are leaving the country for more than 3 weeks. However, the likelyhood of getting an RQ if you leave the country after applying is higher than if you don't.

Depends for how long. As long as you have a Canadian address where you can get mail from CIC and you have fulfilled your residency requirement you should be fine. The only issue would be maintaining PR status while you are outside of Canada.

I don't know how long your friend is thinking to leave for however from my own experience, I took two vacations after applying for my citizenship (7 weeks then 5 weeks) both times i advised CIC.
