recently i received my passport request from OTTAWA
i m inland applicant, my wife lives back home and she is with my application as a spouse.
she send her passport by DHL to me bcz by law my country allowed to send passport abroad.
and i send mine and her passport together to OTTAWA with two photo of both of them
Problem is PASSPORT: my government introduced machine readable passport, problem is my passport is still old version and my wife passport is new version
tho my passport has validity till 2017 jan
do you think it would be a problem.
note: i came Canada with my old version passport, my Canadian visa in old passport, I applied my PR with old passport, even in GCMS note has my old passport details.
If the old passport doesn't have biometric information (and the new type does) they might send you a request to have your fingerprints taken by RCMP, but in general this will not be a problem.

If the only difference is hand written vs printed then they'll just stamp it.
I was wondering it the difference goes beyond that, but I quickly googled it and it seems no Indian passports (except diplomatic ones) are biometric, so there is no difference that would matter to CIC.
Don't worry - older type of passport should not matter. And even if they have a problem with it for some weird reason (very unlikely) it will not affect the decision - it might only delay the stamping.
