Is it better and faster to have my wife apply for TRV before applying for her PR?
I married my wife 2 months ago in India and I am a Canadian citizen. Since processing times for PR is about 17 months for Indian nationals, we are thinking of applying for her TRV before applying for PR. And hopefully after she gets her TRV, we will then apply for her PR as an outlander.
Can somebody please share ideas on what option is best and faster to bring my spouse here in Canada? Or should we first apply for her PR, then apply for her TRV? What are the downsides of applying for TRV before applying for PR?
I have already flown to India twice since after being engaged and I do not have vacation days left anymore.
It is better to apply for the TRV before getting married. To get a TRV, she has to prove ties to India. Once she is married, she has a big tie to Canada - you.
So now, after marriage, it doesn't really matter. She still has to prove ties to India to get the TRV, before or after the PR application is sent in.
I would just apply for the PR visa. The quicker you apply, the sooner it will be processed. You can try for a TRV as well - some people have managed to get one.

Usually they reject TRV before applying for PR. The reason they state is "please apply for Spousal PR". So apply for spousal PR first. Wait for the file to reach Delhi and then apply for TRV. I hope she still has her job (shows good ties back to India)
