Is ECA required to be put into the pool

While applying for the Canadian PR, in the first step, which is essentially putting your profile in to get into the pool, is it necessary to submit the ECA (for example from WES) paperwork? If I indicate that I have a masters degree and do not attach any ECA does that help or hinder my initial CSR score.

Assuming your master's is not from Canada. You'd simply not get points for your degree.
