Wanted to ask. My daughter is a Canadian and USA citizen(currently resides in Canada) but her USA passport is currently expired. We were hoping to go to USA this summer and I wanted to ask if she would be allowed to enter the USA with her Canadian passport instead since the USA one is expired. My intention is to renew her USA passport while in the USA for the summer.
I checked the USA consulate website in Canada and it would require us to appear at the embassy since she is a minor if she wants to renew her USA passport within Canada hence my objection for wanting to renew from Canada. This would require travel and a whole bunch of extra cost if done within Canada.
US citizens cannot be denied entry to the US for ANY reason; this applies to most, if not all, countries and their citizens. As long as she can reach a US port of entry and prove she is a citizen to immigration officers, she can enter.
I have emailed about 5 United States Consular offices in Canada now and would await their response also. However from the United States Consular office in Toronto, they had this statement in their auto response e-mail.
"Dual citizens of Canada and the U.S. may also fly to the U.S. on their Canadian passport"

I do not understand your concern. You are planning to travel to US in summer and thus you have enough time. We are planning to travel in April end and applied for my kid’s pp renewal in Jan 05. They said will get it by 6-8 weeks. It was very smooth process and not at all any hassle.. why can’t u just apply renewal in Canada and relax!
Can u try emailing them and mentioning your urgency? They might accommodate i think
Also during interview you can say u need to travel urgently so that they can expedite in case u do not get appt before May.. they have an option with extra fees
