Hi there! I received an ITA on February 19th and sent all the documents. I am a data scientist, but my degree is in International Relations. When creating my profile, I stated that I have a degree in International Relations only and never told them about a Data Science degree.

I have sent all the proofs of education (International Relations with ECA) and proof of employment as a Data Scientist/Data Engineer. I already passed medicals and gave biometrics, but now IRCC asked for proof of qualification in Data Science. I'm wondering if there is any certification I can upload, like AWS or Databricks certifications, or I'll just get my application rejected because I don't have this degree?

Thanks for any help

Does your NOC listed having a related degree as required qualification?

It says that it usually requires a degree, but it is not mandatory to have a degree to work as a data scientist
Maybe upload any proof to show that you are qualified and a letter of explanation .

I will let others to respond for other options.

Yes upload the certifications you have done. Also explain how you are qualified as a data scientist given your degree in a different field.

"Hello everyone,

I recently received a request from IRCC asking for my diploma/degree as part of my application process. I wanted to confirm whether others here have had similar experiences or if anyone knows the specific requirements for this document request. Does anyone know if this is a standard procedure or if there are any additional steps I should be aware of?

I appreciate any insights or advice from those who have gone through this.

Thanks in advance!"

This is usually part of the documents you are required to submit when applying. Did you not include proof of graduation and transcripts?

You can submit certifications like AWS or Databricks, but they may not fully replace a formal degree in Data Science. Since the IRCC specifically asked for proof of qualification in Data Science, you should provide any relevant certifications, detailed work experience, and job documentation that highlights your expertise. It’s important to be transparent with IRCC about your qualifications and provide as much evidence as possible.
