An invitation letter is required in the online application for Canada Visitor Visa. Can anyone tell if this has to be a formal letter?
I am going there for a research conference. What I only have is an email from the conference with acceptance notification of my paper and an informal invite to attend the conference in Canada. Is a copy of an email generally fine for this purpose?

If I were you, I would submit a paper application, not online application and include letter/email from the company you work for indicating you are coming to Canada for conference. Of course a formal letter from your boss would go a long way.
Hi O_Guy,
Thanks! Actually, I need to apply online, since I need to provide biometrics.
