Hi,
I am new on this forum but have been reading several discussions to try and understand how the PR process works....
We ve applied for my husband`s PR in New Delhi - India under Family Class.
File received by CHC on July 14th 2011 (complete, w/ medical record, police clearance, etc)
They have requested his passport, which they have received on Dec. 20th 2011.
According to our lawyer: it was good news!
They called my husband to confirm his address on Jan. 20th 2012, saying it was to return his passport and confirm his visa to enter Canada was coming. My lawyer called them on Feb. 14th and they have also confirmed he was granted his visa... AND, on March 3rd, my lawyer received an email, out of the blue, saying his application has been queued for an interview!!?!?!? ???
Even my lawyer never heard of them asking for a passport before an interview.
We are really confused now.
If anyone can help..... Thx!
An agent told our lawyer and my husband...
The status has disappeared from the system....
Which I was told -by an immigration worker friend of mine- is a "good sign"....
In New Delhi, the passport is requested as a part of normal processing, NOT to issue the visa immediately thereafter. If your lawyer didn't know this, and your husband is now queued for an interview, may I suggest you start looking for better representation?
Hi Charlie...
Hmmm, really? The passport is needed that early?
The confusing thing though is that they provided us
contradictory information... Unfortunately, no
email to say "yes, he got the visa", only over the phone...
It tells me I shouldn't trust what they say to us over the phone...
Plus, no way to access the status of the application anymore...
Have you heard about this before?
thx!
Yes, they need it that early. New Delhi requests passports as soon as the files are received and initially reviewed. This is standard for them, it does not mean approval of the application.
No, you absolutely cannot trust verbal communication when dealing with government entities. They only hold themselves accountable for what they put in writing. If you don't have it on paper, you don't have proof.
Not being able to access the status of the application is likely a temporary situation caused by updates or routine maintenance. Try again in a few hours, or even a day.
