This is my first time using this forum, so hopefully I'm doing everything okay.

I'm trying to find out the parameters of a conjugal relationship in the case of an internet relationship. I've been with my boyfriend for three years now, however most of our relationship is (unfortunately) over the internet. We've been able to visit one another each year for about 1-2 months at a time. This has been possible as we set money aside.

I also want to mention we both have 1 year left of university. He is 22 while I am 23. I'm a Canadian citizen, while he is a citizen of Germany.

We have seriously discussed sharing financial assets together (a joint bank account and to have both our names signed to a car.)

When we are together we live under one roof by ourselves, are on great terms with one anther's families, participate in events/activities together, friends with one another's friends, and so forth.

If/When he is over here permanently he would have a place to stay (the house mentioned above.)

Is this enough to apply as being in a conjugal relationship? I'm worried there isn't enough exception in immigration laws to support online relationships.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can provide clarity or suggestions. I'm very much stuck on how to further proceed. Cheers!

i think not really...there r few conjugal cases successful and the option of conjugal is for people who can neither b married nor common law...there r countries where no divorce is allowed hence they cannot marry and also none of them managed to have a long term visa (or any visa) to live together for 1 continuous year (the common law requirement)....the fact that u r both still in school or working is not a sufficient reason for not moving in each other's countries to live together....read Alberto70 i think case - he was recently denied :(
there r also successful conjugal cases which could have been married or in common-law, like AllisonVSC - Canadian/US couple; she prepared a very strong application with enough reasoning to why they cannot marry or live together for at least 1 year at that time....
my advice: either get married (if u r ready for that step but don't do it in haste) or try to move together - maybe finish ur degree in Germany, or he will finish his in Canada; there's also a holiday working visa program he can use to come to canada :)

welcome and good luck!! :)

Thank you very much Miss Mini, that's a big help. I'll reply back if I can think of anymore questions. Cheers!

For conjugal they will expect you to have shared financial assets already - and for a year.
Germany/Canada relationships don't usually qualify for conjugal, since there is no immigration barrier to a relationship. I suggest once you two graduate, either he or you go to the other's country on a working holiday visa.
