Hi! I am an international student in Canada I was just wondering what happens when an international student work with an expired SIN.
I start d working in In January 2016 and I forgot my sin number expired in early February. As soon as i remembered this, I went to go renew it but I couldn't because my new student visa didn't have a written condition saying that I am authorized to work while I study in Canada. So I had to apply for an amendment to make a change in my visa. They say it will talke about a month depending on the situation. I told my work about my situation and they said i should take a break from work until I get the SIN renewed. So I am not working at the moment but I am worried about the time that I worked with the expired SIN. It was between February 7- March 10.
And my employer already sent the February record to their tax accountant.
The T4is not till the end of this December, but I am worried what would happen when they go through it.
What would happen to my employer? And me?
