I have received the Student Visa to Canada then later I got married to a Permanent residence before I land in Canada as a student. After coming to Canada, I am going to the college in Toronto from 6 months and my husband he lives in different province in Canada because he works there. Now I decided to drop my studies and thought of applying for the inland permanent residence since my husband already have the PR. I am moving with my husband in December.

The reason for me to drop my studies is that recent 5 weeks of Toronto colleges strike has changed whole plan. Therefore, planned to drop my studies.

Can you please advise me on below questions?

1. If I drop my stop studies, Can I apply for Inland PR?

2. Do I get work permit with PR?

3. Since I came to Canada as a student, after dropping to studies, Am I going to lose my status in Canada?

You should apply to change your status to visitor so that you don't go out of status. Once you drop out of school for more than 90 days your study permit will be officially canceled and you'll be in Canada without status. This may cause complications for the sponsorship process.

Note also you can't submit an inland PR app + OWP app, until you are physically living together with your husband in Canada.

As long as you apply for the Inland PR + OWP while you still have valid status, you will get implied status for duration of PR app and OWP after approx 3-4 months.

To add to this, I certainly hope IRCC will show some sympathy to students who wish to do this in response to the strike. Coming to Canada to study and investing money to do that, only to face 5 weeks with no class is absolutely absurd. :(
