I am posting this question as behalf of my cousin. Your help is truly appreciated.

“ Hi everyone,

I am a first year international student. I was wondering if I can apply for a visitor visa for my mom to come and visit me?

I came to Canada to go to university in January 2021 but I decided to go to college instead. My program was being offered in January 2022. I stayed at home and worked to improve my English.
Now that I have started school, I want to invite my mom for a short visit. Someone told me, I should be studying at least 6 months before I can invite someone on a visitor’s visa. I didn’t find that on government’s website. Can someone help me, if they have ever dealt with this or was in a same situation?
Thank you so much in advance.”

whether your mother gets a TRV will depend on the strength of her application, ties to her one country, finances, etc. Personally don’t think it is a good idea to apply so soon after her child moved to Canada. School only started a few weeks ago. Visiting a child after they’ve studied for 6 months to a year is a reasonable request not less than a month.
