so I work here in Canada in job which is LMIA exempt (clinical fellow in a medical fellowship). I have an offer for work however because LMIA is not necessary it was not issued. Would this have any benefit?

There won't really be any benefit for EE. To get the extra 600 points, you need an approved LMIA even if your current position is LMIA exempt.
