I am a canadian citizen applied to sponsor my wife from outland. the canadian embassy wants me to prove that i intend to live in canada premanently...can I solve this problem by travelling to canada and rent an apartment for a year? or that is not an option for me cause I applied from outside canada? i can not sleep at night!
Intentions could be having a job offer, being accepted to a college, having arranged housing etc. Better than nothing would be to state your plans to where you will be living, what kind of job you will be doing as well as letters from friends and relatives stating they know of your plans and will help you, let you stay etc. while you get settled.
Maybe they did lose your documents. Send the same documents to them as proof and anything else you can think of. If they still refuse, you will have no choice but to go to Canada ahead of your wife and start sponsorship again. If your wife is visa exempt, she can come with you on visit status, if she is not, you can apply for her visit visa but she may get denied.
bluesea - I wasn't in a position to submit a job offer or lease etc so I submitted proof that I had maintained ties with Canada to show my intention to return: maintained bank account, taxes filed while I was away, credit card, stuff in storage, etc.
i'm Canadian living outside and i don't know what exactly to submit to show that i intend to go back to Canada as soon as my partner gets his PR; my parents and all my friends r there, i have just a few friends, noone close and not much life in my current country of residence, i stay here just because my partner is here; if he could go to Canada tomorrow i would b out of here tomorrow
i still have all my bank accounts in Canada, credit cards, i'm currently paying educational loan, i filled-in the taxes regularly as common-law with partner not PR; my name appears next to my parents' name in the lease of the apartment; we will be staying with them at the beginning and they will help us financially; i have letters from friends stating my desire to return as soon as possible and their support and connections in helping me finding a job fast
my issue is that if i show too much proof then maybe they will consider me as Canadian resident and ask me to go back and file from Canada all the time when the people from taxes called me to confirm my non-resident status i did but really don't know how they consider me; the banks and taxes still send all correspondence to my parents' address; on the other hand i have residence visa for my current country of residence and a lot of visit entry visas for the period i was not resident
any advice is greatly appreciated; thanks soo much this forum is great!!
missmini - it makes absolutely no difference where you are. Applying inland or outland depends only on the applicant's location, not the sponsors. Submit all your evidence and don't worry about it at all!
