I have a few questions in mind and I was wondering if any of the newcomers here can share their experience on the following:

1. Is it recommended to obtain a new life insurance in Canada instead of maintaining what you have from your former resident country?
2. I saw Scotiabank's website targeting newcomers and that they can help with opening an account & credit card to build credit history. Has anyone used their service before? And whether you would recommend it / not

1) Depend on many factors such as your age, your insurance policy at home country, etc.

All the major banks in Canada have similar offers and services are largely similar. You can pick the one you like or the nearest to you where you are living.
