Inquiry Regarding Visitor Visa Extension and Study Permit Application Status

Hi,

As a visitor in Canada, I applied for a study permit and am currently awaiting a response. On the last day of my visit before it expired, I applied for a visitor visa extension to maintain my status while waiting for the decision on my study permit. Should I notify IRCC via the web form that I extended my visit while waiting for the study permit decision? And if my study permit application is refused, will they require me to leave the country because I didn't notify IRCC that I extended my visit?
