Hello everyone,

I am a Canadian citizen and I am in the process of sponsoring my husband who is here on a work permit. I got separated in March of 2017 and received the divorce certificate from the court on April 2018. I was married to my ex-husband for over 7 years. I have sponsored him as well (outland), and he landed in Canada as a PR in 2011. I got remarried in September 2018, five months after my divorce and going to sponsor my husband for permanent residency.

I have checked my eligibility and seems like I am allowed to sponsor again because it has been more than 3 years since my ex-husband landed and received his PR. Also, I wasn't sponsored to Canada myself, I came here through skilled worker program in 2009.

I do have a few concerns though, will my previous marriage and/or previous sponsorship be an issue with the application? Anyone else here been though the same situation?

Although we have plenty of photos of us taken at different phases of our relationship, we did not have a marriage ceremony and therefore we do not have any ceremonial pictures. Second marriages are discouraged in my religion and family. Our parents weren't present in our wedding (which was a court marriage) either since they disagree of this marriage.

We have been living together since our marriage have plenty of documents including lease, insurance, bank statements together but lack of wedding pictures and my previous history is putting me in doubt that they might not look at our relationship as me and my husband do.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Divorce happens, IRCC knows this. I dont believe your application will be under extra scrutiny for that reason.

If I remember correctly (it's been a while since I've filled out these forms), on the form about your relationship history with the applicant, there is a question about any celebrations (engagement and/or marriage ceremonies, etc.) Related to your relationship and if your families attended. That's where you can explain all of this, how second marriages are discouraged and your family is unsupportive. Personally I feel your situation is totally understandable and, as far as you've explained things, I don't believe IRCC will make too much of a fuss
