Me and my partner are planning to get married in Canada. He is a permanent resident and I have a tourist visa. Just wanted to confirm what are the requirements of applying inland spousal visa. Is police verification required, and if so, can I apply for that from Canada or do I have to come back to my homeland to get it done. Or is there a way I can get it done before I leave for Canada on tourist visa. Please advice. Many thanks!

Don't allow yourself to become overwhelmed; take it slow and carefully read (and follow) the instruction guide(s). Come back here as often as you need, to ask questions, or to query previous posts that are asking the same/similar question.

I had a similar question. My partner and I plan to get married in canada. I have a PR and I will sponsor her.
my question is: does she need to get her police verification from india? And how does she do that? As in…will the police not be suspicious that she’s coming on a visitor to become an immigrant?
Thanks!

What's wrong with her wanting to leave india and immigrating to Canada? Is that a crime in India? When you said "will the police", I guess you mean police in India.

Its definitely not a crime. My question was more regarding police verification in the country of residence (which is india), which it seems is required for the principal applicant in a spousal sponsorship. But since we are not currently married, my question was, when she tries to get her police verification in india, will the indian police raise any concerns that she is going to canada on the pretense of being a visitor, but then marrying someone there and immigrating?

I still don't understand your question. Why would Indian police care about that.? Plus many other visa application needs police certificate.
Anyway, it may be a culture/country specific issue. I will let others reply.

It was just a thought I had in my mind, so I just wanted to clarify. I think you have answered my question (although if someone has any other response, please feel free). Also, and apologies for more odd questions, but she has to get the police verification done from india correct?

Not sure if you are talking about applying for visitor visa or doing outland sponsorship.
This is the wording for general spousal sponsorship document checklist:
4. POLICE CERTIFICATES AND CLEARANCES POLICE CERTIFICATES You (the principal applicant), and any family members 18 or older (who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents), must submit police certificates from the following country or countries at this time, unless indicated otherwise on the police certificate webpage: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...n/medical-police/police-certificates/how.html. Any country other than Canada
