Hello, I am a Canadian citizen and I would like to sponsor my (soon to be) wife through the inland sponsorship route. Since my fiancée currently lives in the US (she is a US citizen), in order for us to apply through this process, she would have to come to Canada (obviously). The problem is that we are not sure if it is legal for her to come to Canada as simply a visitor (iirc. US citizens don't require a visitor visa) with the intent to be sponsored by me and furthermore (if this is legal) what she would tell the immigration officers for her reason of visit. The only reason I ask is because I know in the US, it is illegal to visit the United States with the intent to marry and then stay there (to then file for a green card). I am not sure if Canada has a similar policy.
Apologies if this question has been asked before, I've tried to google this but to no avail.
