I just received my landing interview letter couple of days ago, and the landing interview is scheduled for August 7 @ Calgary office.
The date does not really work for me as my spouse will be out of country for that period, and we have a wedding to attend (which we can't miss and all the flight tickets/hotels have been booked) in London UK in September. I don't think I will be able to received the PR card back anyway in September..
So I'm thinking reschedule the landing interview to a later date (October), does anyone have any experience/suggestions with regards to the rescheduling process? especially for Calgary office? Do I need to both fax AND send out a letter?
I don't have much experience with Inland interviews, but for Inland applicants you're not supposed to go out of the country until the process is complete... so I'm not sure that asking for another date because you're out of the country would work... it seems a bit paradoxical when it clearly says on the guideline that you have to stay in Canada.
On the odd chance that you are denied entry into Canada, your application for PR would be deemed abandoned.
Traveling without the PR card AFTER you landed is not an issue, because if you're visa-exempt, you can travel on your passport, and if you're non-visa-exempt you can get a travel document.
Traveling before landing, with an inland application, seems risky to me.
Maybe others with more experience will comment.
Good luck,
Sweden
Thanks for your advice! but we have traveled many times out of country (I have a work permit to re-enter Canada). Can you please let me know where it says you have to stay in Canada during the process? cuz we have be in and out for at least 3-5 times....
Have a question with regards to the travel document though - it's stated on the cic website that the travel document has to be applied outside of Canada, we will only be staying in London for 10 days... don't think that will be enough time to apply for a travel document?
