Hello, Greetings. i am permanent resident and I have sponsored permenent residency along with open work permit for my wife through inland family class sponsorship and submitted on May 13th 2018 and unfortunately we received the paper application back on 22nd June saying that my notice of assessment is missing from the documents. We attached notice of assessment this time and sent to CIC on the same day.
CIC usually takes 5 weeks to take a look at the submitted application and in the mean time my wife’s visitor visa is getting expired in on July 22nd ( single entry, she came to Canada 3 months after the visa so technically she stayed with me in Canada only 3 months so far) , however we submitted visitor visa extension for three more months. I am wondering whether cic will consider my wife’s as inland application and process both PR and open work permit or will they say she is no longer having visitor visa. But we have included visitor visa extension screenshot in the application along with a letter stating that we have applied for visitor visa extension.
Any advises on how to keep my wife with me in Canada is greatly appreciated. She is already worrying so much that she may have to leave me.
Please help and advise. Thanks a lot in advance.
Just want to clarify something here. Your wife's visitor visa and how long she is allowed to stay in Canada are two different things. The visitor visa simply allows her to travel to Canada. The expiry date on the visa refers to when she needs to utilize the visa (enter Canada) by, it is not the date she needs to leave Canada by. Unless she was told by the CBSA agent that she needed to leave in 3 months (either by them writing July 22 in her passport under her stamp, or issuing her a visitor record at the airport saying she must leave by July 22), then she can legally stay in Canada for 6 months and you did not need to submit the extension at all.

Hello friend, Thanks for replying. My wife got single entry visitor visa from Jan 22nd 2018 to July 22, 2018 (6 months) but she came to Canada on March 24th only, the visa officer didn't stamp or gave any date but he crossed off on (No of entries: ONE) and visa stamp so i assume she shouldn't stay after the visa expiration which is July 22nd.
By current timelines, CIC likely going to review my document on last week of July and worried whether they will return the application again stating "inland" is not applicable as per current status. but we have included a letter stating that we have applied for visa extension along with the screenshot of the CIC online visitor visa extension screenshot.

As I mentioned above, the visa expiration has
nothing to do with how long she can stay. She can stay for 6 months. Therefore, your concern about her being out of status is totally a non-concern since she can actually stay until September 24 (six months from when she entered).
Please see here for the meaning of the expiry date.
