Inland sponsorship and visitor extension

Hi asking on behalf of my friend, my freind’s husband came on visit visa n then they submitted inland sponsorship and also the work permit application is in process. Now it will be 6 months next months since her husband entered canada so does he need to apply for visitor extension record now if he wants to stay in canada ?

Yes he needs to apply for extension as he have to maintain his status
