Inland PR application but confused about principle applicants student status

Hi, I'm an international student currently in my 3rd year applying for pr under common-law sponsorship. While thoroughly reading the complete guide, I saw that i must use the form (IMM 5552) -Applying to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada. That raised a question, Would I lose my student status if i proceed with this sponsorship application. I have not found any information about my case yet. Can someone please help?

Also, My partner is really nice and does not have any criminal record but her dad has been detained and arrested in the past. Would this affect our sponsorship application

If you don't apply for an OWP then you can still study as long as your study permit is valid.
No, it wont affect.
