I am a bit concerned and have been reading previous posts of those that have landed inland. Well I landed yesterday and the only document to verify of this that I was given was Confirmation of Permanent Residence aka COPR. However, most that I have read were also given a stamp in their passport along with the COPR. I was not given this stamp.
Yesterday after landing I tried to get my first SIN card and was unable to due to not having a stamp or visa in my passport along with my COPR. I am thinking that if I was supposed to have this stamp then I need to contact someone soon. It is because of not having this that I will have to wait 2 months to get my PR card until I can work.
So can any inlanders that landed confirm whether they received a stamp AND a COPR when they landed?
I would greatly appreciate it.
Well one member in our inlander thread almost a month ago said they got one and one guy's wife on trackitt landed today as well inland and was given a stamp as well.
angelbrat, I do have my OWP still though. I just got it in the mail the same day the IO called for me to land. I didn't that day to get my temporary SIN because it is far away and had to get PR photos taken for the next day. Would I still be able to use that to get a temporary SIN even if I am a PR now? I doubt it but thought I would ask.
Too bad Service Canada doesn't just accept COPR, at least my provincial healthcare did anyway.

Yes use the 9 SIN number until you are able to change it to a perm SIN number. All Service Canada want is the visa, whether it be a work visa or landing visa.
Go get that job honey....and a big congrats on the landing...you deserve it...
