Inland Application/ Spousal sponsorship

Hello Good day to everyone.

I am currently here in canada on a tourist visa and was given a 6 months stay duration. Me and my Fiance are planning to get
married next month. we're officemates before in our home country, The Philippines for more than three years and been in a relationship for more than two years.

We are planning to apply for inland application. I would like to ask how long is the current process of the inland application for Permanent residency through spousal sponsorship? is there any changes?

As what we've read, upon filing the PR application we must apply the visa extension and open work permit.

What can you suggest guys in our status. pls help. thank you very much and god bless everyone.

I just checked the processing time from CIC website and the initial assessment is 17 months.
Medical, security, background checks and other verifications for person being sponsored : 10 months
total of 27 months. (If your case is just straight forward without any red flags)

Current processing time is 27 months (17 months stage 1 + 10 months stage 2)

As what we've read, upon filing the PR application we must apply the visa extension and open work permit.

As long as you have valid status when you apply, there is no need to request visa extension. Submitting the OWP application gives you automatic implied visitor status.

You can consider an outland app through Manila office, however there is now OWP this way and you would need to get your TRV extended to remain in Canada during processing.
